Requesting leave
There are two places to request leave, and they are the same: My Requests → My Leave (which also shows your balance), or the request button in All My Requests.
The form
| Field | Required | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Leave type | ✔ | Annual, sick, personal, or a special type your company offers |
| Start & end | ✔ | Public holidays and weekends do not count against your balance |
| Reason | ✔ | Its minimum length can be set by your company |
| Evidence | depends on rules | For example a doctor's note for sick leave |
The balance is checked on submission
If your balance is insufficient, the request is refused there and then — not later in your manager's hands.
The balance shown on the My Leave page is the same one used for that check. If it looks wrong, read how the balance is calculated before reporting it.
Pending leave already holds your balance
The balance shown is already reduced by requests not yet decided. This stops you submitting two requests that together exceed your entitlement and having both approved.
Public holidays do not consume your entitlement
If you take leave Monday to Friday and Wednesday is a public holiday, only four days are deducted.
The holiday calendar is maintained by HR in the Leave Management menu. If a company holiday has not been entered there, that day will still consume your entitlement — report it to HR.
After submitting
The request enters your manager's queue according to the organisation structure. You can track its status in All My Requests.
While still pending, you can cancel it yourself.
Common problems
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Insufficient balance | Your entitlement is less than the days requested | Reduce the days, or ask HR about your allocation |
| Dates overlap another request | Leave already exists in that range | Check your request list |
| Beyond the backdating limit | Requesting a date already past | Request an attendance correction, not leave |
| Evidence required | This leave type requires an attachment | Attach the file |
