Offices, shifts, and attendance rules
The three things that decide whether someone can clock in, and how their attendance is judged. Only holders of settings permission can change them.
Offices and radius
An office consists of a name, a location point, and a radius in metres.
The radius decides how far away someone still counts as being "at the office" when clocking in.
A radius that is too tight produces daily complaints
Phone location signals carry an error of tens of metres, and that error grows indoors. A 20-metre radius will refuse someone genuinely standing in the lobby.
Start generous — 100 to 200 metres for an ordinary office — and tighten only when you have evidence you need to.
One company can have many offices. Each employee is assigned to one of them.
Work shifts
A shift sets start and end times, and the working days.
| What it sets | Example |
|---|---|
| Start and end times | 08:00 – 17:00 |
| Working days | Monday to Friday |
| Break time | 12:00 – 13:00 |
Companies with several working patterns create several shifts, then assign the right one to each person.
Attendance rules
An attendance rule gathers every attendance policy into one package that can be attached to many people at once.
| Setting | Determines |
|---|---|
| Clock-in window | From what time attendance opens, until when it is still accepted |
| Lateness threshold | After what time attendance counts as late |
| Require location | Whether clocking in refuses people outside the radius |
| Require face | Whether face verification is compulsory |
| Early-departure tolerance | How many minutes early is still forgiven |
| Automatic clock-out | What time the system closes a day nobody clocked out of |
One company can hold several rules — for instance one for office staff and one for field staff.
Automatic clock-out does not replace a correction
Automatic clock-out stops a day staying open forever, but the time it records is the time you configured, not the actual departure time.
If genuine working hours matter for pay, the employee still needs to request an attendance correction.
Attaching them to employees
Creating an office, shift, and rule does not put them into force. All three must be assigned to each employee — through the Roster & corrections tab, or through the add-employee wizard.
An employee without an office and a shift cannot clock in at all.
